Popular iPhone and iPad case maker OtterBox announced today during CTIA in Las Vegas that it has acquired competitor LifeProof. The latter has become very popular for its waterproof cases and OtterBox is known for its tough cases.

Yahoo has been busy today. This morning the web company announced the acquisition of Tumblr and this afternoon it announced a redesign of Flickr, its photo service. The design applies to its website, which is photo centric, in a layout called mosaic.

Blogging platform/social network was acquired by Yahoo!, the announcement was issued earlier today. The 1.1 billion dollar deal lets Tumblr be independent; Yahoo! will retain Tumblr employees, and expects to increase its audience in a 50% and increase its traffic in 20%. There are no perceived changes for Tumblr users, although Yahoo! plans to add more ads to Tumblr's Dashboard.
