Incipio offGrid for iPhone 4, Could Very Well Replace My Mophie Juice Pack

Back at CTIA Wireless 2011 I tested the Mophie Juice Pack, which serves both as a case and a battery for the iPhone 4. It worked pretty well, until I arrived at the Incipio booth were they showed me a yet unreleased case that had the same purpose.

That case is called the offGrid. At the time they said this one is way slimmer and lightweight. Well let's go over it, Incipio send us one our way to put it against the Mophie Juice Pack. Keep on reading to see what I think.

For starters, once you open the package you really get the sense of how slim it is, once you have had the Mophie Juice Pack Air for quite sometime. Once I put them side by side it was evident. Second thing to notice is lightweight it might be just ounces (2 oz. offGrid, 2.5 oz. Mophie Juice Pack) but it is evident.

Design differences start by the light indicator of the battery inside the case. The Mophie one has LED lights on the bottom part. On the offGrid they are on the bottom but facing up and not like the Mophie, which are evident, because you only see them when you press the power button, otherwise they are hidden behind the black design.

The Mophie Juice Pack blocks the mic and speakers so it has two apertures on the bottom facing up for this very purpose. On the offGrid there is a dedicated aperture for the mic on the bottom and also there, but facing up, is the slot for the speaker, similar to the Mophie.

I spent a week with the offGrid and it was amazing. I spent at times, intervals of 48 hours without plugging any cable to charge it. Only used the offGrid to charge the iPhone 4, nothing more.

Compared to the Mophie, the offGrid outperformed it as I spent more time without charging the iPhone 4 with other thing than the case, while with the Mophie Juice Pack at the end of the day. I used both on under the same conditions, and the offGrid worked much better.

The offGrid is a more accessible, economic yet powerful solution for your iPhone 4's battery. At just $69.99, the offGrid can be yours, compared to the $79.95 price tag of the Mophie Juice pack.

Incipio has made quite a solution for iPhone 4 users with a slimmer, lighter solution than Mophie’s. Give it a try, as this one its quite a must have accessory. You can get it from Incipio's web site.
