iOS 4.2.1 For Apple TV 2 Now Available

Apple has released version 4.2.1 for Apple TV 2nd generation. The latest version which weights 267Mb appears named 4.1.1 after installed. Weird! The update documentation describes:

"Update addresses an issue that causes some high-definition TVs to incorrectly display at 480p" and "an issue that may cause a movie or TV show to be re-downloaded."

To download from the Apple TV

  1. Go to Settings > General
  2. Click on “Update Software”. It will then verified for the available download.
  3. Click on “Download and Install” to start the process of downloading. (It is very important to not disconnect the Apple TV during this process)

According to Apple discussion boards, this version does not address the display issues in Sony Bravia TVs and Phillips Tvs where users have reported colors been inverted.
